[Didy Mali - bass]

[P]oint [O]f [V]iew

What got you into music?

For me, it was my dad because he played the guitar, and I've always loved music. I eventually found the bass, and he helped me get one. He taught me everything I know.

What made you want to play in a band?

Boredom. You can only play so well by yourself for so long.

Why did you pick the particular instrument you play?

I don't have enough coordination to be a drummer, and I'm too lazy for guitar.

Do you have to be in a certain state of mind to perform? If so, how do you get into this state of mind?

I have no state of mind that I known of, and I'm always there.

From what point of view to you write your songs?

I wrote my songs from things I encounter in life, or when I get strong emotions. Sometimes, something appears in my head like a magical jelly bean.

How would you classify your music?

Me playing my bass.

As far as local bands go, do you consider yourselves successful? Why or why not?

I think success would look something like a rap video: chicks, cars, money, and a bunch of other losers who do nothing but follow you around. I'm not looking for success any time soon.

"It's all about the music." Agree or disagree? Why?

I fully agree. I would be happy just playing in a garage with my friends. That's what I do right now, actually.

What is your opinion on music today?

It sucks. It's the reason I'm in a band, and I'm not saying that it all sucks. It's just most of the main-stream sh*t or bubble-gum pop.
