Officers and Captains
Skill Development Officer
This officer will be responsible for conducting warm-up activities, organize the summer workshop, and create other opportunities to further skills [guest speaker, field trip, etc].
Recruitment Officer
This officer will be responsible for working with middle schools, especially at Effective Electives Night and speech festivals and create opportunities to visit and perform for classes during the school day and publicize auditions. Call freshmen about auditions.
Historian
The role of historian is responsible for taking pictures throughout the season and creating a yearbook. He/she creates a beginning, mid and end-season newsletter.
Awards Night Coordinator
This person shall organize the evening, decorate, provide refreshments, order cake, send out invitations, create awards, assign speakers, and make programs for Awards Night.
Secretary
This person is responsible for recording attendance and results of competitions. He/she also creates a phone tree, makes fliers for meetings, submits announcements for meetings, and submits competition results to newspapers, school newsletters, and student and staff bulletins.
Spirit Officer
This officer is responsible for coordinating two dinners: one before the first tournament and one before Regionals. This officer rewards those who broke [kudos, flowers, certificate, etc]. This officer decorates lockers before each tournament and provides doughnuts for the bus ride to each competition, from a kitty. This officer is responsible for the team bag: accessories, blanket, and first aid kit. This officer finds ways to promote team unity and spirit!
Limited Preparation Captain
This Captain introduces and trains new students in Radio, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Impromptu Speaking. This person is in charge of transporting extemp boxes to and from competitions -- making sure they are organized and filled with current magazines and newspapers. He/she meets with students on an as-needed basis. This captain also finds ways to promote unity and team spirit!
Public Address Captain
This captain introduces and trains new students in Original Oratory, Original Comedy, Special Occasion Speaking, and Oratorical Declamation. This includes developing research skills and writing outlines specific for each category. The Captain will meet with students on an as-needed basis as well. This captain also tries find ways to promote unity and team spirit!
Interpretation Captain
This captain introduces and trains new students in Prose, Verse, Dramatic Duet Acting, Humorous Duet Acting, Humorous Interpretation, and Dramatic Interpretation. This captain will review materials to build files and will meet with students on an as-needed basis.
